Selina Kyle - unmasked by Carollinae
Before writing this critique I made use of some Wiki-Fu to research details I wanted for the text.

I know that the cosplayer sees herself playing the Julie Newmar (Batman Tv series 1966-67) version of the character, who never appears as a "civilian" alter ego. That's why I marked "Originality" down to 3*; it's been done before.
Vision, Technique and Impact I marked way up, because I was impressed by how well she carries an iconic role (and personally my second favourite live action take on the character after Michelle Pheiffer's in Batman Returns).

There are 2 slight negatives:-
1) Julie had shoulder-length straight hair in this period rather than a tousled bob, although the bob suits both the character and the cosplayer.
2) The Tv series character did not use a whip.

60 THOUSAND THANKS by ashinperil
Generally, I've been watching Ash for some time, and despite the simplicity of the background and pose, I think this may be her best work yet.

Vision 4* - It's clear that what was wanted was a bikini model in a plain studio pose and that's what we get.
Originality 3* - Er, well there's nothing really original about it beyond that it's not a complex or bondage scene which is a departure for Ash.
Technique 5* - Excellent. It really shows off stuff you've learnt, particularly the lighting (look at the shadow of the left arm in the model's thigh and waist people), and the filigree paterning on the bikini. Now look at the detail in the tattoos.
Impact 5* - See "Vision" and "Technique" above for why it had an impact on me.
I was reading replies to my comments on their recent work by Forty-Fathoms forty-fathoms.deviantart.com/j… and TheDarkRayne thedarkrayne.deviantart.com/ar… and found myself thinking that how we interpret an artwork can be a personal thing. We may see something that the artist didn't or doesn't, or something that they agree is valid but wasn't their original intent.

Is this why we create art, and in particular why we expose it to public comment on sites like DA? In order to find out what other people actually think of our work. Presuming that this is the case, does it really help anyone when a model (usually a woman in my experience) gets lots of comments that are just variations on "pretty girl"? Please, if that's all you've got to say, think twice, and see if you can at least say something funny.

I've heard rumors about electoral fraud in the Scottish independence elections.

Any comments on that?.

The "Chief Returning Officer for Scotland" (title of the person in overall charge of administering all elections in Scotland) has not felt it necessary to ask the police to investigate any cases of fraud.
Nor have the police laid evidence with the Procurator Fiscal's office in respect of any cases of fraud.

So I think it's sour grapes, although I am disappointed with the result.

I feel with you.

I think this must be one of the few times in history where a people has said "no" to having their own country.
