I was struck by this shot when I saw it as a Daily Deviation. Clearly this means that it has impact and plenty of it, since typically less than 1 DD in 10 gets a click through from me.
Technique-wise the exposure is spot-on, and the bird is pin-sharp whilst the long lens and low f-stop combine to reduce the ground to a surrealist, almost abstract, blur of colour, further emphasising the subject.
It's completely original too in my experience, showing a bird of more or less any species except a hummingbird with its wings on full up beat like this.
I "only" gave the shot 4 for vision because my experience says that there's always a touch of luck in getting somethign this specific with birds flying, displaying (peacock tails aside) or actively breeding.
